Low-emission and electric construction machinery, as well as driver assist and remote functionality were major themes at the world's largest expo.
Bauma is the world's leading trade fair for construction machinery and the largest trade show in the world. It is held every three years in Munich, Germany.
This year’s event from 7 to 13 April, spanned 614,000 square meters, with 3,600 exhibitors and 600,000 visitors from around the world, making it the largest in Bauma’s history.
It showcased the latest innovations and technologies in machinery and vehicles for construction and mining, and included a five-day program of forum sessions, with each day focusing on one of the five key themes for 2025: Climate Neutrality, Mining Challenges, Alternative Drive Concepts, Networked Construction and Sustainable Construction.
Our Managing Director, David Waters, attended this year’s expo to ensure that Enviro Plant Hire stays current with global technology trends and maintains a world-class fleet.
He shared, "It was interesting to see the developments in zero-emission machinery since I first visited the show in 2018. Battery charging units have evolved significantly, and with countries like Germany and Sweden enforcing electric machinery on their construction sites, and offering contractors rebates and incentives to buy electric equipment, it’s clear where they’re heading.
"Besides low-emission equipment, autonomy seems to be the next big thing in the industry. Many are exploring innovations around driver assist and remote functionality, along with fully autonomous machines, which is a major leap forward.
"Australia seems to be leading the way in electric mining equipment, with some impressive displays showing their developments."
